Inspired by the previous app icon, the new one represents a simpler camera and the rainbow lives on in gradient form. You’ll also see updated icons for our other creative apps: Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse. We’ve made improvements to how the Instagram app looks on the inside as well. The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app. The Instagram community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more — a global community of interests sharing more than 80 million photos and videos every day. Our updated look reflects how vibrant and diverse your storytelling has become. Thank you for giving this community its life and color. You make Instagram a place to discover the wonder in the world. While this program is offered by the Swiss civil society organization Masanga Education and Assistance (meamasanga.org), which offers education to children in the community, there several Africa-led campaigns working to put a halt to the harmful part of the practice. Bondo ceremonies serve as highly-regarded rites of passage for Sierra Leonean girls as they enter adulthood and thus secret all-women communities, but decoupling FGM/C from the girls’ ceremonies has allowed the community to continue to practice some of their traditions without harming their physical and mental health. During the Bondo ritual, girls can spend up to a month in the bush learning skills from how to be a good wife and mother to successful member of society. Over the past year, I was honored with telling the photographic stories of the world's most vulnerable girls for the latest @natgeo story 'The Dangerous Lives of Girls,' published online this week and in the special January 2017 print edition of the magazine which focuses on gender issues. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night...🎄I have a ritual every year once everyone is asleep I like to go sit by the tree and think about the year that just went by. Check in on how I feel right in that moment about everything in my life. The magic of the sparkly tree always takes me away into my thoughts and feelings... and this year I can honestly say my heart is full. This year had its ups and downs but as I sit here in my living room w my coconuts sleeping soundly upstairs, all of us healthy, a house full of family and friends, I feel surrounded by love and overflowing with gratitude for the many new blessings in my life!!!
